Shaping Hoxton together

We are investing in streets and spaces that bring people together, improve wellbeing and strengthen community life in Hoxton

The Connecting Hoxton project aims to enhance local services, green spaces, and the public realm, strengthening east-west connections, while improving wellbeing and a sense of belonging throughout the neighbourhood. Up to £3 million has been secured from the Mayor of London’s Civic Partnership Programme to deliver these priorities, as set out in 2024, when residents, workers, and students collaborated in workshops to define proposals to improve Hoxton.

Connecting Hoxton also includes proposals for more public space near Shoreditch Library, Hoxton Hall, and Hoxton Gardens, new footpaths, and reduced through-traffic on key cycling routes, aiming for a safer, greener, healthier, and more inclusive neighbourhood. Additional funding for this is provided by the  Greater London Authority and Transport for London.

Project themes

The priorities below were shaped through a co-design process with local residents, workers and community organisations. Together they form the Connecting Hoxton Community Design Vision.

These shared priorities now guide the programme’s project themes, which organise the work taking place across Hoxton. Select a theme below to explore the community vision behind it and see the projects being delivered to support it.

This is why we have introduced four low traffic neighbourhoods in Arlen Hill, implemented on an experimental traffic...

Cycle lane proposal

We have been working hard to tranform our transport system into a more efficient and safer network for citizens, while also contributing to a reduction in pollution levels. Previous research has indicated that citizens often don't feel safe cycling around Arlen Hill due to high levels of congestion and very few designated cycle routes, we aim to create a more accessible way to get everyone moving. What is being proposed? We are proposing to introduce a 1.7km cycle path that...
